By Don Eskins Carlsbad High’s Cavemen football team closed out the 2025 season with a 30-19 loss to the Hobbs Eagles during quarterfinal action of this year’s state tournament in Hobbs on Friday night, November 14. CHS Cross Country State Meet Results The Cavemen and Cavegirl cross country teams placed 13th at the recent NMAA Cross Country State Championship Meet in Albuquerque on Saturday, November 8. Rex Reynolds, with a time of 17:46.30, placed 47th to pace the Cavemen’s effort at the tourney. Rainelle Ruiz, with a time of 22:04, placed 52nd to lead all Cavegirl participants. Overall, the Cavegirls placed fifth and the Cavemen sixth in a 15-team field. Although CHS has had trouble closing out teams in 2025, it was not so in their battle with the Coyotes.
