Highland Slips Past Cavemen 51-50
By Don Eskins The Carlsbad Cavemen battled the Highland Hornets for four tough quarters in Albuquerque on Monday, December 1. However, in the end, Highland prevailed as they slipped past CHS by the narrowest of margins, 51-50, to pick up the win. The Cavemen jumped on the Hornets early in the contest, outscoring them 15-12 during the first quarter and 18-10 during the second, to grab a 33-22 halftime lead. Cavegirls Tame Alamo Tigers 39-32
By Don Eskins The Cavegirl basketball team pushed their season record up to 2-1 following a 39-32 victory over the Alamogordo Tigers in Alamogordo on Monday, December 1. The Cavegirls rode the hot hand of freshman low-post Serenity Medrano’s 16-point effort to get the win. Down 16-13 at the half, CHS rallied to outscore the Tigers 23-16 over the final two frames. CHS Wrestlers Shine at Hobbs Dual
By Don Eskins Carlsbad High kicked off the new wrestling season at the Battle of the Border Invitational in Hobbs on Saturday, November 29, and according to CHS head coach Mark Pratt, both the Cavemen’s and Cavegirls’ 2025-26 debuts went very well. “Our coaching staff couldn’t be happier with the way our kids wrestled,” said Pratt. “They showed a lot of aggressiveness on the mat, and they listened well. Cavemen Season Ends with Playoff Loss to Hobbs
By Don Eskins Carlsbad High’s Cavemen football team closed out the 2025 season with a 30-19 loss to the Hobbs Eagles during quarterfinal action of this year’s state tournament in Hobbs on Friday night, November 14.
