Robert (Bob) Dean Brinker, born Ponca City, OK on January 3, 1944 lost his battle to
cancer on March 16, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Effie
Brinker, brother, Charles, and daughter, Julie.
Bob is survived by his wife, Anna Ray, son, Ron, daughters Janice and Kathy, brother
Gene, step-son John Kyle Russell and their families including eight grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren.
He was blessed with many friends and was active in the Benevolent and Protective
Order of Elks, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Rotary International, Loyal
Order of Moose, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He retired in Carlsbad 15 years ago
after spending a career as a Project and Engineering Manager at PCS Nitrogen. His
career allowed him to call home to locations as far west as El Centro, CA and east as
Louisville, KY and as far North as Dubuque, IA and south as Baton Rouge, LA and
numerous locations in between, including Carlsbad, twice in the 1980’s. His work
also allowed him to enjoy traveling to numerous locations around the world. His one
true passion was playing golf and enjoying a strong bond with many friends; friends
whose only wish was that he had taken more golf lessons.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or any
other cancer related charity of your choosing.
A viewing will be held between 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at
Denton Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be limited to 10 people in the chapel at a
time and facial coverings are required. Due to the pandemic a limited service for the
family will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021 with a burial immediately
following at the Carlsbad Cemetery. Guests are required to wear a mask and maintain
social distancing at both the viewing and burial. Arrangements are under the care of
