Carlsbad High head soccer coach Mario Fierro, Jr., recently received some great news! Six of his 2025 Cavemen had been recognized for District 4/5A post-season honors.

Of those six, two received First Team honors, three Second Team, and one Honorable Mention.

Selected to the All-District 4/5A First Team were junior midfielder Edwin Minjares and senior defender Mason Fierro.

All-District 4/5A Second Team honors went to senior defender Cristian Munoz, sophomore forward Ike Anderson, and senior midfielder Daeson Urquidez.

Receiving Honorable Mention was eighth-grader Jesus Medina.

“All six of these kids played exceptionally well during district. Although the first half of our conference schedule was difficult, these kids wouldn’t quit,” said coach Fierro. “They settled down to play with a lot more intensity and a higher pace during the second.”

“Because of their outstanding efforts and play, they all deserved to be selected to this year’s All-District team,” he said. “At this time, our coaching staff couldn’t be more proud of them.”

While seniors Fierro, Munoz, and Urquidez will be lost to graduation this year, Minjares, Anderson, and Medina will return, as will the majority of this year’s roster, which included 25 athletes.

In a move towards youth and the future, the Cavemen suited up only four seniors this year.

Carlsbad High closed out the 2025 season at 3-15. In conference play, they were 1-5.
