Both the Cavemen Baseball and Cavegirl Softball teams are currently competing in tournaments at Rio Rancho. The tourneys got underway on Thursday, March 26, and will run through Saturday, March 28.

According to MaxPreps, the Cavegirls, competing in the Kristen Griego Memorial Tournament, opened play on Thursday against the Aztec Tigers and are scheduled to take on the Bloomfield Bobcats at 10 a.m. on Friday. At noon on Friday, they’ll battle an opponent yet to be determined. They also have two games scheduled on Saturday, TBD.

Having dropped 9-4 and 7-2 decisions to Centennial on Friday, March 20, and a 6-5 heartbreaker to the Lovington Wildcats on Tuesday, March 24, in Lovington, the Cavegirls took the field at the Kristen Griego Memorial Tournament with a record of 2-5.

The Cavemen, according to MaxPreps, opened up against the St. Pius Sartans on Thursday. MaxPreps listed no other opponents or times for the remainder of the Rio Rancho Tournament.

Following a 3-0 victory over Organ Mt., a 2-1 win over Cathedral, a 4-3 loss to El Paso’s Rose of Sharon, and a 15-6 triumph over Las Cruces Mayfield in their own Cavemen Round Robin Tournament, March 19-21, the Cavemen entered the Rio Rancho Tournament at 7-6 on the year.
