The Cavemen and Cavegirl tennis teams competed at the Statewide Invitational in Albuquerque on Friday and Saturday, February 20-21.

On Friday, CHS competed in flighted singles bracket competition, and on Saturday, flighted doubles bracket play.

“The competition here was a bit more difficult than last weekend in El Paso,” said CHS assistant coach Diamond Morrill. “However, it was nice for us to get to see what some of the other teams in the state are looking like at this early point of the season and how we compare to them.”

Top performances for the Cavemen were, in singles, Josh Cooper, and doubles, Lucas Bluth and Alex Burns.

Cooper, 3-1, placed third in the Fifth Singles Bracket play. Bluth and Burns, 2-1, placed second in No. 1 Doubles Competition.

In the girls’ division play, no Cavegirls placed.

The CHS tennis teams will be back in action again on Friday and Saturday, February 27-28, at the Longhorn Invitational in Amarillo.
