The SENMC Library is excited to announce the opening of its new 400-square-foot Family Study Room. A ribbon-cutting and tour of the room will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 12.

The newly designed space offers SENMC students and employees who are parents/guardians a safe and child-friendly space to study and learn together. It also provides SNMC’s Early Childhood Education students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with children.

Samantha Villa, SENMC Library Director, said, “We do our best to provide resources that support our SENMC community. We saw a need for a family-friendly space on campus and decided to create this space to support our students and employees with children. I am grateful for our SENMC HSI Grant Services Department and the Santa Fe Community College Early Childhood Center for Excellence for assisting us with making this project possible.”

The room features educational games and technology for kids, a lactation room, a family restroom, and much more. The public is invited to stop by the SENMC Library and take a look. Light refreshments will be available, and an SENMC Early Childhood Education student will do a brief story reading for the kids.

SENMC President, Dr. Kevin Beardmore, said, “It is wonderful that we have this new resource available for parents on our campus. It will help students of all ages to grow and succeed.”

The mission of SENMC is to provide educational programs, training, and services that best serve our diverse students, communities, and industry.
