Sheena Linney is a skilled welding instructor and passionate advocate for vocational education, currently serving the Carlsbad community through her work at the post-secondary level. Sheena is originally from a small Spanish town in Northern New Mexico, the Village of Cuba.

Since relocating to Carlsbad in 2018, Sheena has thrived personally and professionally. Her journey into the trades began at the age of 24 when she joined a Plumbers and Pipefitters union that set her on a transformative path. Today, she leverages her experiences to support local youth by promoting career development, hands-on training, and access to opportunities in the skilled trades—especially within the region’s vital oil and welding industries.

Sheena is deeply committed to helping students bridge the gap between education and employment. She is actively engaged in initiatives that connect young people with apprenticeships, mentorships, and internships tailored to the local job market. Her goal is to build sustainable pathways for future generations to succeed without having to leave the community they love.

Sheena is proud to be part of SENMC’s broader mission to address educational and workforce needs in Eddy County. Through her work and leadership, Sheena is helping to ensure that Carlsbad remains a community where opportunity, connection, and growth are within reach for all.
