The SENMC Welding Department received a $14,500 grant at the Permian Pipeliners Education Foundation Banquet on Wednesday, July 24, in Midland, TX. The Permian Pipeliners Education Foundation has awarded $200,000 in grants throughout the Permian this year, including scholarships for students, grants for higher education, and grants for non-profits.

The SENMC welding department is excited to utilize the grant funds to obtain a new fabrication table that will be improve the welding lab and support our current and future welding students.

Chris King, Welding Instructor at SENMC said, “We believe that having this tool will further our students education and knowledge in fabricating a wide range of metals and will aid in building projects.”

Southeast New Mexico College President, Dr. Kevin Beardmore said, “Our Welding faculty are setting the standard for trades education in the region. They provide a Lincoln Electric Welding curriculum in partnership with the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), and their commitment to student success in the classroom, shop, and in the workforce is second to none. We greatly appreciate the support from and recognition by the Permian Pipeliners Education Foundation supported by the region’s pipeline associations.”

The Permian Pipeliners Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides “peer-to-peer” networking for professionals involved in the pipeline and oil and gas-related industries. It is supported by the Permian Basin Association of Pipeliners (PBAP) and the Delaware Basin Association of Pipeliners (DBAP), who share the mission of advancing pipeline engineering, operations, safety practices and education for the mutual benefit of the members and the industry. They host multiple fundraising events in both Midland and the Delaware Basin like Christmas fundraisers, golf tournaments, and clay shoots that benefit the Foundation. These scholarship and grant funds help prepare students for future careers in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) program related to the pipeline and oil and gas-related industries.

Southeast New Mexico College would like to sincerely thank the Permian Pipeliners Education Foundation, The Permian Basin Pipeliners Association, and the Delaware Basin Pipeliners Association for their continued support of Southeast New Mexico College and its students.
