I started my professional journey serving in the Army, where I learned discipline, resilience, and the ability to adapt to any situation. Those lessons have carried me through every step of my career. Most recently, my husband and I co-founded Nurvis Purvis Brewing Co., a woman-owned and veteran-owned brewery right here in Carlsbad. This project has been a true labor of love. We’ve faced more challenges than I can count, such as construction costs, permits, and the simple reality of building something from the ground up in a tough economy, b

ut we’ve kept pushing forward. What makes this brewery special to me isn’t just the 70s-inspired vibe or the vision behind it, but the fact that it’s something we’ve poured ourselves into with the hope of creating a place where people can gather, feel welcome, and enjoy something local. Carlsbad has always been home for me, and giving back to this community has been at the center of everything I do. I’ve been fortunate to serve in different roles over the years, from volunteering to leading, and I’ve learned that the real impact comes from consistently showing up and contributing where it matters most.
