Cavegirls Host Clovis Wildcats

Lady Luck continues to evade the injury-plagued Carlsbad Cavegirls. Hoping to grab a District 4/5A inaugural victory on Tuesday, September 29, in Hobbs, Carlsbad’s girls dropped a 4-0 decision to the 7-6-1, 11th-ranked Hobbs Eagles.

With the loss, the Cavegirls fell to 2-11-1 on the year and 0-1 in conference play. In Class 5A soccer, they’re ranked 22nd. For the Eagles, the 4-0 win earned them a spot atop the District 4/5A standings.

The Cavegirls will entertain the 8-4, 16th-ranked Clovis Wildcats on Saturday, October 3. The JVs will take the field first at 11 a.m., followed by the varsity at 1 p.m.


Cavemen Battle Clovis

The Hobbs Eagles demonstrated just why they’re the top-ranked soccer team in Class 5A and New Mexico to a young Carlsbad Cavemen squad on Tuesday, September 29, in the Cavern City, by downing the game CHS boys 8-0.

The victory propelled the Eagles, 13-0-1 on the year and 1-0 in conference, to the top of the District 4/5A standings.

As a result of the loss, the Cavemen fell to 2-12-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Currently, they’re ranked 25th in Class 5A soccer.

Carlsbad High will hit the road on Saturday, October 3, in hopes of picking up their first district win of the season against the 9-4, 16th-ranked Clovis Wildcats. Play is scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. for JV action, and 1:00 p.m. for the varsity.


Note: The Roswell and Clovis boys’ and girls’ programs were scheduled to open up District 4/5A play on Thursday, October 1.
