Robots Week

Engineers from Salado Isolation Mining Contractors supported National Robotics Week earlier this month by visiting Carlsbad High School’s engineering classes. They presented various engineering disciplines and discussed their dedication to integrating new technologies into the work done at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, including integrating cutting-edge imaging to gauge the natural movement of salt in the underground. WIPP safely disposes of defense-generated transuranic waste from U.S. Department of Energy sites in an ancient salt bed.

Robotics Week is a national initiative to inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Participating in robotics presentations is just one way that SIMCO’s engineers are helping the next generation develop a passion for STEM.
