LVSG in Carlsbad (the Low Vision Support Group) comprises half a dozen regulars reaching out in south Eddy County to ALL y’all today!

Please ask kith, kin, neighbors, and congregants. Whom do you know whose vision is dimming? Please visit or phone. LVSG offers outreach to folks with diminishing eyesight. Hook us up before the lights go out—even more so if the sunlight has set.

This writer belongs to LVSG, a worthy crew. Deborah Pinching is our fearless leader. No dues are asked, though it would be worth a fee just to know Debbie, ever an inspiration. Last June, she pitched our field trip to the Public Library’s exhibition, “America and the Holocaust.”

Historical placards held photos and text. These tracked the Nazi rise in Europe vs. pushback in America, where we went from bemused distaste to total war—D-Day, Bastogne, Dresden, Führerbunker, and Nuremberg.

The Carlsbad Public Library offered constricted space and shadows, but nobody griped. Hurray for those who brought this exhibit! LVSG field-trippers appreciated it.

Reading all would’ve cost hours. Our docent succinctly skimmed the text and photos for highlights. We pondered and discussed. Current equivalents were evident.

Beyond the exhibit, library professional Terry Busby served as our guide to facilities, equipment, and collections.

If you know someone with dimming vision, please pass along this info: President Deborah Pinching, 575 706-8863, Low Vision Support Group. It’s voicemail because Debbie screens out spam. Real folks? She calls back!
