Local Achieves Dream with Energy Alignment Techniques

Since 2020, Shawna Hicks has been sharing healthy tools and techniques with others to help them align their energy and cope with the everyday stresses of life.

She started online part-time before having a physical space and began offering services at a local spa in March of last year. She recently achieved her dream of having a bigger space downtown where she can hold sessions, classes, and events.

Aligned Energy Healing is now located at 217 S. Canyon St. in Carlsbad. When asked if it was a spa, Shawna said it is more like a wellness center.

“I focus on nervous system regulation, helping you feel safe in your body,” said Shawna. “I do that through techniques like energy healing,” she said, mentioning Reiki, sound, and meditation.

Services offered by Aligned Energy Healing include one-on-one sessions, where clients can get an energy alignment. “I also have packages where you can work with me more,” said Shawna. “Some people choose that after they come in for a one-time session,” she said.

“I hold classes every Tuesday evening, and special events as well,” said Shawna. She said the classes are focused on meditation and sound healing, often called sound baths. She said that she has had both girls and guys attend classes. “I like to make it an experience,” she said.

Acknowledging that explaining exactly what she does can be difficult, Shawna said, “It’s more of a ‘felt’ experience in your body.”

To bring a greater understanding, Shawna explained one of her classes, titled “Pajamas and Peace,” as an example.

“Everybody is coming in their comfy pajamas. I’ll have a hot cocoa bar, and the girls like hot apple cider, so I’ll have some of that out, too,” she said. “It’s just an experience. We come in, we get cozy and connect with each other and feel supported and learn how to regulate our nervous systems,” she said.

“That is the foundation of all healing,” said Shawna. “We get out of survival mode and feel safe in our bodies again. It’s fun, and it’s also learning tools that you can use in everyday life,” she said.

Galentine’s Glow Night is an upcoming special event scheduled for 6-8 p.m. on February 10. “That’s going to be super fun. Everybody gets to take home a gift,” she said. “It is all about healing again, and connection,” she said.

At the Galentine’s Glow Night event, Shawna said she got some cute stationery with matching envelopes. Attendees will write letters to themselves and seal them with wax, opening them in 90 days. She said they will do some meditation and sound and integrate everything together. “It’s super fun. The girls love it (the connection), and we need that right now—building community support where you feel safe and connected back to yourself, too.”

Shawna said she was born and raised in Carlsbad and has lived here all of her life. “I am a mother and a nana, and they all live here in Carlsbad,” she said.

Expressing excitement about providing services, classes, and special events for her hometown community in a physical space, Shawna said, “It’s my heart. I just want to build a safe place and help people to know with tools that they can actually use, along with a sense of peace and empowerment.”

Continuing, Shawna said, “My goal is for you to feel calm enough to heal and brave enough to rise; that’s one of my sayings. I feel like these tools are needed, and people are feeling overwhelmed; they are carrying a lot, and we need to learn how to cope and have healthy tools to deal with that.”
