Laura Whaley

Laura Whaley is a dynamic entrepreneur, community advocate, and proud Carlsbad resident who exemplifies resilience, creativity, and leadership. As the owner of Whaley Great Image, a local media company, Laura has built a successful business rooted in her passion for storytelling and visual communication. Her work is frequently seen around the community, where she volunteers her photography to highlight city events, local initiatives, and organizations.

Deeply engaged in civic life, Laura has served on multiple boards, including the United Way, Pearl of the Pecos Arts & Culture District, Carlsbad Chamber Ambassadors, and the Carlsbad Arts Council. She actively participates in community development and event planning efforts such as CavernFest and Department of Development meetings. A strong believer in servant leadership, she also sings on the worship team at Word of Life Church and contributes to local schools, recently taking part in Career Day at Carlsbad High School.

Laura’s commitment to Carlsbad extends to her aspirations for public service. With an eye toward the future, she hopes to take on greater leadership roles, including serving on the City Council, to help guide meaningful progress and ensure that the voices of residents are heard and respected.

A teen mother turned multi-faceted professional, Laura credits her faith, family, and drive to learn as the foundation of her success. She is a proud wife and mother of five, and her greatest accomplishment remains her family. A recipient of the “40 Under 40” recognition, Laura continues to break barriers and inspire others by showing what’s possible through hard work and community-minded dedication.
