Firefighter Calendar will Support Local Charities

Clear a spot on your holiday wish list this year! Members of the Carlsbad Fire Department have agreed to participate in a charity calendar shoot!

Calendar sales should begin prior to Thanksgiving. Additionally, sponsorship options are available for businesses who want to be included in the calendar.

All proceeds from calendar sales will be split between the United Way of Eddy County and Sodality, a new nonprofit whose mission is to provide mental health support to first responders.

“Sodality is a statewide nonprofit with origins in Carlsbad,” said Rhonda Jones, outreach coordinator for the United Way of Eddy County. “We’re honored to partner with a nonprofit that will directly provide important mental health assistance to our first responders.”

Calendar photos will be family-friendly (G-rated). Local firefighters will be photographed rescuing kittens, assembling bunker gear and grilling hamburgers. (Don’t worry; at least one workout photo is planned!)

Laura Whaley, with Whaley Great Image, has graciously agreed to provide the photography free of charge.

“Thank you so much to Whaley Great Image, and especially to the Carlsbad Fire Department volunteers who agreed to participate in this fun project,” said Jones. “We hope this will be a popular Christmas gift item!”
