Oxy

Automation Specialist lll

I am fortunate to have built a great career with what I believe is not just one the largest but the greatest employer in Carlsbad - Oxy. Working here has allowed me to merge my passion for community service and giving back with my professional endeavors. I started at the bottom, shoveling dirt and swinging hammers for a living, and now I find myself discussing industry-impactful ideas with seasoned engineers on a daily basis. I am truly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had, and I am committed to leveraging my experience and skills to help teach others. I was also honored to receive the “Spirit of the Workforce” award from Carlsbad Mayor Richard Lopez at the 2024 Carlsbad Mayor’s 2024 Energy summit.

By Don Eskins Building positive resumes couldn’t be more important for prep football teams throughout New Mexico, especially for all those aspiring to join the NMAA’s list of elite state playoff candidates. Coaches and teams all know that when the NMAA meets at the end of October to place teams on this year’s state tournament bracket, wins and losses couldn’t be more important to the selection committee. So, with three games remaining on most prep gridiron schedules, closing

Raising Readers: Simple Tips for Parents

By Sarah Jones, Carlsbad Public Library One of the greatest gifts a parent can give a child is a love of reading. Books open doors to new ideas, build vocabulary, strengthen imagination, and help children develop the skills they need to succeed in school and life.
