Andrea Kennedy is a Nurse Practitioner and Medical Services Manager at SIMCO (Salado Isolation Mining Company) in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where she has worked for the past 5 years. In her role, she provides direction and oversees medical services for employees, evaluates and treats work-related illnesses and injuries, conducts required medical surveillance exams, and provides emergency medical response. Notably, she directed all COVID medical response efforts for WIPP (Waste Isolation Pilot Plant) and its subcontractors during the pandemic.

Before joining SIMCO, Andrea owned and operated her own family practice clinic in Idaho and previously worked in both family practice/urgent care settings and pediatrics across Idaho and South Carolina. Her professional career demonstrates her versatility in healthcare delivery and leadership. Andrea moved to the Carlsbad area in November 2019 with her family. Having lived in several different states and overseas throughout her life, these diverse experiences have shaped her compassionate approach to patient care and her desire to help others achieve their health goals.

Family remains her constant priority regardless of location, and she values the resilience and tenacity that can positively change life’s course. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Andrea is involved with the Loving FFA Booster Club, supporting the Loving Future Farmers of America program. She and her family have invested in developing their small farmstead south of Carlsbad, where they’ve enjoyed quality family time together. Andrea believes strongly in raising independent and responsible children in healthy, stable environments so they can become cornerstones of their future families and communities. She sees this as her highest accomplishment, along with providing excellent care as a Nurse Practitioner.

As a relatively new resident of Carlsbad, Andrea is eager to forge deeper connections within the community and contribute to addressing local challenges, particularly in healthcare accessibility, education, and affordable housing.
