Amy Pesek currently serves as HR Director at Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO) in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where she has worked for 3.5 years. In this role, she provides oversight of all human resources functions for the company, supporting a workplace culture for approximately 1,100 SIMCO employees. Prior to her current position, Amy built an impressive career focused on workforce development, holding roles including Staffing Manager at SIMCO, Education Director at Roswell Correctional Center, and Center Director for both the Roswell and Albuquerque Job Corps Centers.

Amy’s educational background includes a Master of Science in Management from Minot State University (2011) and an undergraduate degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She has certifications in Knowledge Management and Project Management-Lean Process. She was recognized with an Excellence Award in 2022.

A New Mexico native, Amy graduated high school from Laguna-Acoma, a reservation school. Her interest in workforce development began while working at ENMU-Roswell, a focus that has defined her career path. In the Carlsbad community, Amy currently serves on the daycare task force, working to address childcare availability issues in the area. She has previous board experience with Chaves County United Way, where she participated in fundraising, contribution decisions, and planning activities. She has also served on the Eastern New Mexico Workforce Development Board, including participation on proposal and award review teams.

Amy is the mother of five children (ages 20, 19, 15, 17 months, and 5 months). She was pregnant during Leadership Carlsbad making her time very memorable! She is married to a Constructors employee. They connected in Carlsbad, making the community particularly special to Amy as the place that “changed her life entirely.” As a professional committed to workforce development and community improvement, Amy identifies daycare availability, affordable housing, and drug issues as key concerns for the Carlsbad area and hopes to become increasingly involved in finding solutions to these and other community challenges.
