Hana Heft is the daughter of Eric and Jana Heft. She is sister to Colton (25). Hana plans on attending NMSU to pursue a degree in nursing with plans on becoming a nurse anesthetist. Hana has been a member of CHS national honor society, interact, student council, and the Carlsbad Cavemen Trap and Skeet team.

Rubye Chappa is the daughter of Eduardo and Lisa Chappa. She is sister to Andres (21). Rubye plans on attending college to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in music. Rubye is a member of the CHS Band, MESA, Girls Scouts, Science Bowl, Community Band, and Mariachi Band. Rubye was a 2024 Congressional App Challenge winner, a second place Science Bowl regional champion, a Hispanic Scholar Fund Finalist, and an AP Scholar with Honor. Rubye was named to the District Honor Band in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, the Regional Honor Band in 2025, and the All State Band in 2024.

Taylor Onsurez is the daughter of Jeff Onsurez and Andrea Sosa. She is sister to Samuel (15). After graduation, Taylor plans on attending college to pursue a career in nursing. Taylor is a member of the CHS Interact Club and CHS National Honor Society. Taylor has received A honor roll, Teachers Favorite Award, and an AAUW scholar award.

Bluth Captures Longhorn Singles Title

By Don Eskins Carlsbad High’s Lucas Bluth, on a mission at the Longhorn Tennis Invitational, made a lot of noise in Amarillo on Friday and Saturday, February 27-28.
