Where Confidence Begins and Futures Take Shape

The MyPower Mentoring Circles Program hosted a special evening at Riverside Country Club, creating a space filled with encouragement, connection, and meaningful moments for the girls it serves.

From the moment the girls walked in, something felt different. The room was beautifully prepared, each table thoughtfully set, creating an atmosphere that felt warm, welcoming, and intentional. It was more than just an event. It was a space designed to remind every girl that she is seen, valued, and celebrated.

That kind of intentionality is not limited to one evening. It reflects the heart of MyPower Mentoring Circles.

Through weekly mentoring at Cottonwood Elementary and Desert Willow Elementary, girls are surrounded by mentors who consistently show up, building relationships, speaking life, and helping them grow in confidence, character, and leadership. As part of MyPower, Inc., the program is rooted in a mission to empower young people to make wise choices, set goals, and reach their full potential.

And on this night, that mission came to life.

Guest speaker Kerri Fowler delivered a powerful message on transformation, encouraging the girls to trust the process of growth. She did not just speak, she connected. With genuine joy and presence, she poured into each girl, reminding them that becoming who they are meant to be takes time, patience, and trust.

Kerri is a Carlsbad native, President and Qualifying Broker of Century 21 Dunagan Associates, and a fifth generation leader in her family’s business, which recently celebrated 100 years of service. She is also deeply invested in her community, volunteering with MyPower and mentoring students each week.

As a meaningful takeaway, each girl received a caterpillar, a simple but powerful symbol of who they are becoming.

What made the evening truly unforgettable was the people behind it.

This night was made possible by the incredible MyPower mentors and staff who consistently invest in these girls: Allyce Vasquez, Angelica Barrios- Testa, Brandy Mendoza, Ekta Bhakta Patel, Helen Cortez, Jana Heft, Jennifer Armendariz, Jennifer Lemons, JoAnn Trevino, Kayley Crawford, Kerri Fowler, Kimberly Lacey, Lacey Clutts, Lily Cook, Luisa Seal, Meagan Carpenter, Sarah Jones, Savannah Cabezuela, Sidney Vasquez, Therese Rodriguez, Valerie Waddle, Victoria Campos, and Vivian Kamplain.

Led by Executive Director Danielle Hernandez, this team shows up week after week, investing in these girls and walking alongside them as they grow into who they are becoming.

“We’re not just hosting events, we’re building confidence, character, and future leaders,” said Danielle Hernandez, Executive Director. “At the heart of it, we want every girl to know she has value, she has purpose, and she’s capable of so much more than she realizes.”

The evening was beautifully captured by Kendal, owner of K2 Media Agency LLC, preserving the joy and connection shared throughout the night. Guests also enjoyed an exceptional meal prepared by Chef Lance of Barrelhead Catering, while the staff at Riverside Country Club helped bring the entire experience together with care and excellence. Special thanks to LA LA Services LLC for safely transporting the girls and helping make the evening possible.

“This is what it looks like when a community comes together to invest in the next generation,” said Danielle Hernandez, Executive Director. “It’s bigger than one program or one night, it’s about creating lasting impact in the lives of these girls.”

The impact of a night like this continues long after it ends. It shows up in the confidence these girls carry, the choices they begin to make, and the way they start to see what is possible for their future. Through MyPower Mentoring Circles, that growth continues, one girl at a time.
