Tennis Results: Cavern City Adult Tourney

The annual Cavern City adult tennis tournament was held over the Fourth of July weekend at the Lake Carlsbad Tennis Complex, drawing 56 players from Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico. Carlsbad entrants fared well, winning four of the nine divisions offered, with three runners-up finishes and four consolation championships.

Recent high school graduate Lucas Bluth brought home top honors in the 27-person Men’s Open Singles, then teamed with his brother, Clayton Bluth, to win the Men’s Open Doubles. Charlie Jurva won the Men’s 80 Singles and the Men’s 70 Doubles with Robert Jack from El Paso.

Thanks to the generosity of our major sponsors, Western Commerce Bank, Greer Construction, and BCO Wealth Management, we were able to award over $4,000 in prize money, player gifts, and food to participants. This is generally the largest adult tournament in Southern New Mexico.
