Local Wreaths Across America Sponsorship Group to Host Fundraising Locally

The Thomas Jefferson Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution is fundraising to support the Wreaths Across America program at Albertson’s and Tractor Supply. They aim to raise awareness of the organization’s yearly mission: to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom.

The organization is trying to reach its sponsorship goal of 401 veteran wreaths for Sunset Gardens Cemetery and 1,578 veteran wreaths for Carlsbad Cemetery on Wreaths Across America Day, December 19.

The event at Albertson’s, 202 W. Church St., will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on October 17. The event at Tractor Supply, 3127 National Parks Hwy., will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on November 7.

About Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, which was begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992. The organization’s yearlong mission—Remember, Honor, Teach—is carried out in part each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at thousands of veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond.
