CHS Swim Team State Meet Results

The Carlsbad High School swim teams recently returned home from the state tournament with good reviews. This year’s tournament took place in Albuquerque on Friday and Saturday, February 20-21.

Olivia Jang, with a 10th-place finish in the 100 Butterfly, recorded the Cavegirls’ top performance. She covered the distance in a time of 1:03.02.

Benjamin Jang, with 12th-place finishes in the 100 Free (50.86100) and 100 Breaststroke (105.56), along with Sam Vega, who placed 12th in the 100 Backstroke (58.26), paced the Cavemen’s effort.

Jang and Vega also teamed up to help lead the Cavemen’s 200 Medley Relay team to a 12th-place finish (1:47.21).

“Our kids showed up and did well. Under pressure, they didn’t fold, even when their nerves started to get the best of them,” said CHS head swim coach Samantha Segura. “They fought, stayed focused, and finished strong. We’re incredibly proud of how they closed out a tough season.”

Boys’ 200 Freestyle Relay: Kason Longbine, Santiago Galardo, Constantine Gonzalez, Bennett Mitchell, 19th place, 1:42.98. *Bennett swam a PR 50 in prelims with a 25.85.
