CHS Cross Country State Meet Results

The Cavemen and Cavegirl cross country teams placed 13th at the recent NMAA Cross Country State Championship Meet in Albuquerque on Saturday, November 8.

Rex Reynolds, with a time of 17:46.30, placed 47th to pace the Cavemen’s effort at the tourney. Rainelle Ruiz, with a time of 22:04, placed 52nd to lead all Cavegirl participants.

The following are the 2025 state tournament times and places recorded by Carlsbad’s runners:

Boys’ State Team Scores: Carlsbad 13 of 15.

Cavemen: 47. Rex Reynolds 17:46.30, 50. Javion Scott 17:51.00, 59. Kaleb Vasquez 18:07.70, 92. Aiden Mendez 19:10.40, 93. Josiah Waddle 19:19.10, 98. Dany Hernandez 19:32.10, 100. Caisen Smith 19:37.40.

Girls’ State Team Scores: Carlsbad 13 of 14.

Cavegirl Volleyball Falls to Hobbs

The Cavegirl volleyball team traveled to Hobbs on Thursday, November 6, in hopes of upsetting the Hobbs Eagles, which would have enhanced CHS’s hopes of earning a berth in this year’s state playoffs. However, the Cavegirls dropped the match 3-0 and fell out of contention for a spot in the 2025 state tournament.

As a result, CHS closed out the year with an overall record of 6-16. In District 4/5A play, they were 2-4. In conference, they finished third behind Clovis and Hobbs. Roswell placed fourth.
