The Carlsbad Cavemen are on a mission. They want to capture the 2025 District 4/5A championship! And from all indications, they’re well on their way to doing just that.

On Tuesday, April 22, CHS rolled over the Roswell Coyotes 6-0. The victory upped their conference record to 3-0. Roswell fell to 1-2 in league play alongside both Clovis and Hobbs.

CHS will be in the Alien City on Friday, April 25, for their second conference meeting with the Coyotes. Game time for the event is set for 5 p.m.

A victory there would leave only the Hobbs Eagles standing in the Cavemen’s way of grabbing this year’s district title. CHS will take on the Birds in Hobbs on Tuesday, April 29, and in Carlsbad on Friday, May 2.

With their win over the Coyotes, Carlsbad is now 18-5 on the year. MaxPreps has them ranked fifth in Class 5A play.

Cavemen Roll Over Roswell

Caveman hurler Jonas Molinar, on the mound for all seven innings, shut out the Roswell Coyotes to pick up a 6-0 victory in Carlsbad on Tuesday, April 22.

Molinar allowed the Otes just five hits, with seven strikeouts and no walks, on his way to the victory.

CHS pushed two runs across the plate in the second inning, three in the fourth, and another in the fifth en route to the win.

Tops at the plate for the Cavemen were Connor Roberson and Gus Risher. Both players went 2-3, with a double, on the day. Roberson added two RBIs, Risher one.

On Thursday, April 17, CHS rolled over the Clovis Wildcats 10-0. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Jonas Molinar, on the mound for the win, registered a pitching gem. The hard-throwing right-hander allowed the Wildcats no-hits during his five innings on the hill. He had no walks and eight strikeouts.

In a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, Garrett Fuentes went yard, doubled, scored three runs, and registered two RBIs.

Aden Quintela also had a big day with the stick. Quintela was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
