John E. Olguin
June 19, 1952 ~ November 14, 2020
John E. Olguin was born on June 19, 1952 to Louisa Lovato and Enrique Olguin in Roswell,
NM. He was raised in Hagerman, NM and graduated class of 1972 at Lake Arthur High. He met
Connie Chavarria while attending Eastern New Mexico University at Roswell and made her his
wife in September of the same year. John faced many health battles throughout his life but
always proved to be a warrior and prevailed each time. He had three sons and one daughter
despite being told he would never be a father. In his youth he enjoys coaching his children’s
sports, camping and fishing with his family and dancing with his wife as often as he could.
As he aged and his family grew, he loved chasing around his 9 grandchildren and 8 great
grandchildren. He could always be found sitting at the table visiting with family, scratching
tickets, and doing crossword puzzles. He took pride in his family, himself, and everything he did
and never left a job unfinished. He will be greatly missed by his entire family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Enrique and Louisa, son John Olguin, daughter Melissa
Olguin Lane, great granddaughter Alyanna Gonzalez, sisters Victoriana Olguin and Molly
Olguin Nunez, brothers Henry Olguin, Raymond Olguin, and Jerry Olguin, grandparents Sostena
and David Lovato, and beloved in-laws Ramon and Cruz Chavarria.
His memory lives on through his wife Connie Olguin, sons Lee Herera and Joe Olguin, sisters
Clarinda Nunez, Velia Olguin and Angie Olguin, grandchildren Anissa Gonzalez, Jarrod Olguin,
Kambri Roland, Jordan Chavez, Seth Olguin, Jonah Mathews, Julius “Juju” Mathews, John D.
Olguin, and Julian Olguin, and great grandchildren Karrah, Karlee, Jaylene, Jace, Janelle, Aurora
and Kannon.
Due to current COVID conditions, viewing will be private. A memorial service will be held
