Jessie M. Navarrette

Jessie M. Navarrette, 75, of East Derrick Road Carlsbad, New Mexico passed away on Thursday,
January 28, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas. Jessie was born on September 2, 1945, in Delicias, Mexico
to Thomas and Carlota Murillo.
Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Denton-Wood
Funeral Home Chapel. The family will have private services at San Jose Catholic Church with
Fr. Juan Carlos officiating, followed by private interment at the Loving Cemetery. Denton-Wood
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jessie was a loving and caring person. She never met a stranger, and always took an opportunity
to visit people. Every time she went to the store, it was an all day event, because she would stop
and talk with everyone she knew. Jessie was a hard worker her whole life: from housekeeping at
Carlsbad Medical Center, a clerk at Allsup’s, and finally as a cook with Carlsbad Municipal
Schools. She always loved cooking and baking, and her family fondly remembers her fresh
tortillas, chile, and salsa. Jessie will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Jessie was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Murillo; mother Carlota Murillo; two sons:
Lonnie Navarrette and LeRoy Navarrette; grandson, Eric Navarrette; brother, Richard Murillo;
and sister, Maria Portillo.
Jessie is survived by her loving husband, Alonso O. Navarrette of Carlsbad, NM; son, Alonso M.
Navarrette and Gloria Bustillos of Carlsbad, NM; eleven grandchildren; nine great-
grandchildren; six siblings: Rogvlio Murillo, Torobillo Murillo, Oscor Murillo, Aurelio Murillo,
Octabio Murillo, and Teresa Pena; and numerous nieces and nephews.
