Hole In One

Carding an ace, as all linksters know, is one of golf’s most cherished accomplishments. So how could anybody possibly achieve more than that while out on the links? Well, Carlsbad’s Bobbe Young just might have the answer! Young, who’s proven to be a fixture at the Lake Carlsbad Municipal Golf Course for quite some time, carded two hole-in-ones during the same week recently while teeing up on the muni’s Par 3 course. Undoubtedly, it was a ‘Big Week for the Little Lady.’ On Tuesday (Oct. 13th) the Cavern City senior used her five iron to ace the 130 yard first hole and then on Friday (Oct. 16th)she followed that up with yet another. On that day Young pulled a seven iron out of her bag to ace the muni’s 110 yard ninth hole. “On Tuesday I was out playing with my good friends Becky Thompson and Janie Martin. We like to go out and practice together,” said Young. “However Friday’s round was a bit different, it took place during Senior Par 3 League play, so we were all competing. But I was teeing up with Becky and Janie again. Being able to record two hole-in-ones during the same week, while playing with them, made it very special for me.” According to Young, Thompson and Martin were both more excited about her two hole-in-ones than she was. “Becky and Janie both see better than I do,” said Young. “I didn’t actually see the balls drop in the cup but they did. They let me know right away when they thought my ball had fallen into the hole and that got us all excited, it was really a great feeling. Getting two aces within four days made it an unbelievable week for me. ”And seeing is believing .“Janie and I could hardly believe it,” said Thompson. “What an incredible week of golf for Bobbe. We were so happy that we got to witness both of her aces. ”“After watching her hit her second one, during senior Par 3 League play, we all laughed and got really excited about what she had just done. Two hole-in-ones in less than a week, wow,” Thompson said. “Janie and I both just love Bobbe. She’s a real sweetheart and such a nice person.” As a result of her efforts Young now has three lifetime hole-in-ones. A few years back, on Lake Carlsbad Municipal Golf Course’s eighteen hole course, she aced the 126 yard par three third hole. “I love spending time at the municipal golf course,” said Young. “There are so many really nice people over there. Just playing golf and competing in the Senior Par 3 League has given me something to look forward to most every day. It’s also helped to keep me in shape. I can’t think of too many other places I’d rather be. ”The question floating around the municipal golf course now is, how long will it be before Bobbe Young cards another hole-in-one?
