Elidia “Lily” Hernandez Acosta, 76, of Carlsbad, New Mexico passed away at her home
Saturday, January 9, 2021. Lily was born on December 10, 1944, in Carlsbad, New Mexico
to Antonio and Juana Hernandez.
Lily married the love of her life, Ernesto Acosta on October 5, 1962, and they began their
family of six children. Lily loved her family, and selflessly cared for her children and
grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Lily was preceded in death by her father, Antonio Hernandez; mother, Juana Hernandez;
infant daughter, Peggy Acosta; infant grandson, Brandon Ebare; and brother, Salvador
“Shutters” Hernandez.
Lily is survived by her loving husband, Ernest Acosta of Carlsbad, NM; four sons: Ernesto
Acosta, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM; Leroy Acosta and wife, Yolanda of Carlsbad, NM; Daniel
Acosta and wife, Jovita of Phoenix, AZ; and Paul Acosta of Carlsbad, NM; two daughters:
Grace Ebare and husband, Kevin of Carlsbad, NM; and Stacy Valenzuela and husband,
Robert of Carlsbad, NM; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters:
Juanita Valdez of Loving, NM; Gloria Najera of Carlsbad, NM; Pauline “Tito” Biscaino of
Carlsbad, NM; and Celina Hernandez of Carlsbad, NM; two brothers: Antonio “Chooky”
Hernandez, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM; and Epimenio “Bob” Hernandez of Carlsbad, NM; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
