Alejandro O. “Jano” Vera, 84, of Ortega St., Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away
on Thursday, January 21, 2021 in Hobbs, NM. Visitation will be 3:00 PM – 6:00
PM, Monday, January 25, 2021 at Denton Wood Funeral Home. Visitation is
limited to 5 people in the chapel at a time and facial coverings are required. Private
graveside services will be held at Loving Cemetery, Loving, NM with Deacon
Melvin Balderama officiating. Jano was born May 28, 1936 in Loving, New
Mexico to Ramon B. and Delphina (Onsurez) Vera. He married Ofelia Gonzalez,
December 13, 1958. Jano worked in the potash mines 28 years. He enjoyed
cooking and will be remembered for his asado and chicharrons. Jano also enjoyed
playing the guitar, singing, and keeping his truck cleaned. He was preceded in
death by his parents, and sister Angie Parraz. Survivors are sons, Armando Vera,
Danny Vera, Alex Vera Jr. and wife Cheyanne; daughters, Lillie Vargas and
husband Ben, Grace Vera and Carlos, Pauline Vargas and husband Lorenzo;
grandchildren, Barbara Montoya, Patricia Sosa, Gabriel Vera, Adrianna Vargas,
Jacob Vargas, Inez Vargas, Melinda Vargas, Kristine Ortega, Lorenzo Vargas, III,
Joshua Vera, Alex Vera, III, Giovanna Vera, and Miracle Vera; thirteen great-
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Condolences may be expressed at
